I flew fixed wing and rotor wing burn patients to Dr. Mullins. Any and every patient I ever took there, he was available by phone, no matter the time. He always helped in every way and said “bring them on”. It is rare for a Doctor much less one as busy as he was to make sure you not only had his contact info but be available 24/7. It was rare that he wasn’t there when we landed to meet the patient. He taught me so much about burns, from the burn symposium to over the phone on flights…I’ll never be able to thank him enough for the knowledge he passed. He was one of the most humble people I’ve ever met. I had to take my son for a bone infection with his finger of course to Doctors…he took the time out of his day to come down and personally check on us. The day I found out I cried like a baby. To say he was one of a kind is an understatement….there will never be another Dr. Fred Mullins. My heart goes out to the burn center, his family whom he always spoke of with a smile, and all the patients he touched. RIP Dr. Mullins. You certainly were an angel on Earth.
