Dr. Robert Fredrick “Fred” Mullins, 54, of Evans, entered in to rest Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, GA.
Dr. Mullins was the Medical Director of the JMS Burn Center at Doctors Hospital and President/CEO of Burn and Reconstructive Centers of America. A leader in the world of burn care, Dr. Mullins leaves behind countless medical professionals to carry his legacy of providing world-class care to patients across the globe. His impact on thousands of patients is immeasurable, as he saved lives every day.
Dr. Mullins was active with various groups, including the Georgia Trauma Commission, the Georgia Trauma Foundation, the JMS Research Foundation, the BRCA Foundation and the Burn Foundation of America. In addition, he was a member of other various professional boards and organizations.
A native of the Augusta area, Dr. Mullins could usually be found on his tractor, cutting grass or surveying property, when he wasn’t in the operating room. He always enjoyed spending time with his family, and was excitedly anticipating the arrival of his first grandchild, Berkley Briggs Harris.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Horseman Mullins; son, Houston (Kiki Webster); daughter, Southern Harris (Will); brothers, Frank (Becky), and Joe (Jennifer); sisters, Julie Eden (Danny), Jennifer Mullins, Allison Minshall (Jeremy). He was preceded in death by his parents, DeWitt Franklin Mullins, Jr., and Joann Patricia Vignati.
A public visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at Platt’s Funeral Home on Belair Road. A private service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the BRCA Foundation, the Burn Foundation of America, or the Georgia Trauma Foundation.
