Founder’s daughter, astronaut Susan Still Kilrain, honored by USA TODAY

Susan Still Kilrain, who piloted back-to-back space shuttle missions in 1997, was recently named a Woman of the Century by USA TODAY. The daughter of burn center founder Dr. Joseph M. Still, Kilrain was the U.S. Navy’s second female pilot and currently works as a motivational speaker.

 

USA TODAY recently endeavored to name the Women of the Century for the United States to commemorate the 100th anniversary of women being granted the right to vote in the United States. The list of groundbreaking women covers areas such as arts and literature, business, civil rights, education, entertainment, law, media, nonprofits and philanthropy, politics, science and medicine, and sports.
