Claus Brandigi, M.D., FACS, a burn and reconstructive surgeon with more than two decades of experience, is the new CEO of Burn and Reconstructive Centers of America (BRCA). In addition to his CEO duties, Dr. Brandigi will continue to serve as the Medical Director for the JMS Burn Center at WellStar Cobb Hospital.
Dr. Brandigi joined the staff of JMS Burn Centers, Inc., and BRCA in 2004, working alongside BRCA founders Drs. Fred Mullins and Zaheed Hassan at the nation’s largest burn center – the JMS Burn Center at Doctors Hospital.
“The mission of BRCA – Healing patients. Healing families. Healing lives. – is at the core of what we do, no matter the location,” Dr. Brandigi said. “We continuously strive to get better, to provide better care and, ultimately, provide better outcomes for our patients.”
Dr. Brandigi was instrumental in establishing an outpatient facility at WellStar Cobb in 2006. When that facility expanded to include inpatient care in 2013, Dr. Brandigi was tapped to serve as Medical Director. He has served on the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee, as the OR Process Improvement Committee Chair and is the current chair of both the Burn Process Improvement Committee and the OR Utilization Committee.
Dr. Brandigi earned a psychology degree from Emory University in 1990, before pursuing his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia. He graduated in 1995 and completed an internship in pathology the following year. During his residency at Georgia Baptist Medical Center, he served as Chief Resident from 2001 until 2002.
