Burn and Reconstructive Centers of America at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX, celebrated the South Texas burn center with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sept. 14.
BRCA’s burn center at Methodist Hospital is part of the largest burn network in the nation. With 20 beds devoted to burn patients and a team of surgeons trained in advanced burn and wound care, the center is equipped to provide specialized inpatient and outpatient burn care to adult and pediatric patients.
The burn center supports BRCA’s mission to treat the whole patient, from initial injury through rehabilitation and beyond, by providing comprehensive burn treatment, critical care, reconstructive services, short- and long-term rehabilitation, and follow-up care. The facility is equipped with advanced burn treatment technology such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy and emergency burn rooms specially designed to regulate room temperature and humidity for burn patients who can’t maintain their body temperature or fluid levels. The facility’s physician team includes Medical Director Dr. Chandra Ellis and Dr. Kirsten L. Smith, a wound specialist.
We look forward to bringing world-class burn care to the residents of South Texas as we continue Healing Patients. Healing Families. Healing Lives.®
